Participation of Kazakhstan’s State Secretary in the International Neurosurgical Forum

Opening the Forum, Gulshara Abdykalikova read the congratulatory address of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on the 70th anniversary of A.Potapov, prominent neurosurgeon, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Secretary of State stressed that Kazakhstan, in accordance with the President's Address New Opportunities for Development in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, began to introduce elements of Industry 4.0 and, in particular, in medicine.

- One of the flagships of innovations in health care is the National Centre for Neurosurgery, which was founded in 2008 on the initiative of the President of the country. Today it has become one of the leading clinics in Central Asia, Gulshara  Abdykalikova said.

Over 10 years, the National Centre for Neurosurgery has treated more than 37,000 patients, performed more than 25,000 operations, and introduced 66 new neurosurgical technologies. For the first time in Kazakhstan, on its basis, fundamentally new sections of neurosurgery were introduced; they are micronaurosurgery, endovascular, endoscopic and functional neurosurgery.

In conclusion, the State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan wished the Forum participants creative achievements and invited them to take part in the festive celebrations dedicated to Astana’s  20th anniversary.

The Minister of Health E. Birtanov, Astana mayor A. Issekeshev, the Parliament deputies, the leading experts in the field of neurosurgery from more than 20 countries of the world have also participated in the Forum.

The event is held within the framework of celebrating the 20th anniversary of Astana and is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the National Centre for Neurosurgery.
