The second day of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Munich kicked off with a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Noting the friendly nature and positive dynamics of interstate relations, the President of Kazakhstan drew attention to the significant potential for mutual cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
“We are very good partners within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The headquarters of the Islamic Organization for Food Security has been opened in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, which may also give a productive impetus to our cooperation,” the Head of State said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the Government of Kuwait for its assistance in assisting to the use of Kuwaiti air bases within the implementation of the “Jusan” humanitarian operation in January 2019.
President Tokayev also noted the great potential of economic cooperation between the two countries, including fields of construction, energy, agriculture, finance, investment and tourism.
The Prime Minister of Kuwait also praised the prospects for strengthening ties with Kazakhstan.
“There is a huge potential for cooperation between our countries in trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian, and tourist areas,” the head of the Kuwaiti government noted.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah noted that the Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries faces important tasks. He expressed hope that new approaches will be developed within the framework of the upcoming 4th session of the Commission, which will allow elevating the Kazakh-Kuwaiti relations to a new level.
Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited the Prime Minister of Kuwait to pay a visit to Kazakhstan.
