Upon arrival at the opening ceremony of the 12th Summit of Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the President of Kazakhstan met with the President of France Emmanuel Macron.
The Head of State stressed that 26 years have passed since establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, during which all the necessary legal framework have been formed.
- I am sure that due to today's meeting, Kazakhstani-French relations will reach a new level. Dozens of French companies are working in our country; the volume of mutual trade can reach 5 billion US dollars, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In turn, Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Head of State and noted the symbolism of holding the meeting in the year of the 10th anniversary of concluding the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Kazakhstan and France.
- Mr. President, I am especially pleased to meet you, because this is our first joint meeting since I took office. I hope to discuss with you a number of questions and hear your point of view, the President of France said.
During the long meeting, which was held in a confidential atmosphere, issues of bilateral relations were discussed, and there was an open exchange of views on the most topical aspects of the regional and international agenda.
