During the meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev announced merger of the Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University and Kazakh-British Technical University. The President also announced the appointment of Iskander Beisembetov as the Rector of the newly established Kazakh National Technical Research University named after Kanysh Satpayev.
Nursultan Nazarbayev set a task to create the largest university-based research center, and stressed that in the current circumstances the country’s economy is in need of highly qualified personnel, particularly engineers and technicians.
