During the meeting A. Zhumagaliyev reported to the President on the approval of the development strategy of the national atomic company.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasized the need for elimination of non-core assets in order to improve economic performance.
- Privatization should be implemented, as it was conducted at the initial stage of our independence. It is necessary to concentrate on the immediate activity - production of uranium, while all other assets should be transferred to private hands, - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Chairman of the Board " Kazatomprom " JSC noted main priorities of the development strategy - diversification of production and entering in all stages of the nuclear fuel cycle, as well as improving the efficiency of and holding transformation of the company, including mining companies.
A. Zhumagaliyev stated that implementation of the Strategy will increase the cost of “Kazatomprom" JSC and help maintain its leading position in the global market for uranium mining.
Following the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev gave a number of specific instructions.
