Working trip of Kazakhstan’s State Secretary to Almaty

Within the visit, Gulshara Abdykalikova visited the Almaty Museum, opened in 2016 as part of the city’s 1000th anniversary. The Museum is the city’s large scientific and cultural centre. The Museum’s exposition is presented in 11 thematic Halls as "Ancient History of Almaty", "Medieval History of Almaty", "At the Origins of Kazakh Statehood", "Ethnography of Zhetysu", "Vernyi Period of Almaty History", "Almaty in the XX c.", "Development of Culture and Art", "History of Mountaineering"," Zheltoksan","Almaty and Elbasy" and "Model of Peace and Harmony".

Later the Secretary of State laid flowers at the Memorial to Famine Victims of 1931-1933. The Monument was opened in the square of Karagaila on May 31, 2017 as part of implementing the Head of the State’s program article titled "Bolashakka Bagdar: Ruhani Zhangyru". According to the decision of the Republican Commission for Establishment of New Monumental Art Facilities, among more than 20 works, a four-meter-high sculpture made of bronze and granite was selected; it is a mother pressing her child to her chest.

At the end of the visit, the Secretary of State took part in the international festival Almaty Kok-Tobe Opera-2017. The event was attended by Kazakhstan’s best soloists and stars of world ballet and opera accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

The first festival was held in 2016 as part of celebrating Almaty city’s 1000th anniversary. This year’s festival is timed to "Astana Expo-2017" international exhibition, as well as to the celebration of City Day.
