Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Murat Nurtleu

He was born in 1976 in Almaty.

In 1998, he graduated from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with a degree in International Relations.

He began his career in 1998 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the Desk officer, attaché of the State Protocol Service.

From 1999 to 2003, he worked as the Attaché of Kazakhstan’s Embassy in Malaysia.

From 2003 to 2004, he served as the Second Secretary of the Department of Asia and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2004 to 2006 - Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In 2007, he worked as the Head of the Secretariat of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In 2007, he was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Senate of Kazakhstan’s Parliament.

From 2007 to 2011, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Senate of Kazakhstan’s Parliament.

In 2011, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was appointed as the Ambassador-at-large. Then he held the position as the Department Director of Asia and Africa.

From 2011 to 2014, he served as the Minister-Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan in Geneva (Swiss Confederation).

From 2014 to 2016, he held the position as the Deputy Chief of the Foreign Policy Centre of the Presidential Executive Office of Kazakhstan.

From 2016 to 2019, Murat Nurtleuov served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Finland, and concurrently Ambassador to Estonia.

From 2019 to 2021, Aide to the President of Kazakhstan.

On February 25, 2021, by the Decree of the Head of State, he was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

He speaks English and German.

He is married with 4 children.
