During the meeting, the Head of State was informed about the plans and prospects for the development of Turkestan, and information was provided on executing instructions concerning the transfer of the regional centre from the city of Shymkent to the city of Turkestan.
- Everyone knows that in our country there is a new region - Turkestan. I think this is a right decision. The regional centre now moves to the city of Turkestan. This is a complex process in every respect, the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the special historical and spiritual significance of Turkestan both for the residents of Kazakhstan and for the entire Turkic world.
- This is a sacred place for the Turkic people; therefore it is visited by a large number of people. Many well-known personalities lie here, the Head of State noted.
The First Deputy Prime Minister A.Mamin reported on the concept of the territorial development of the city of Turkestan as well as Turkestan region akim Zh.Tuimebayev spoke about the progress of transfering administrative and territorial government bodies to the new regional centre. In particular, the President of Kazakhstan was informed in detail about the plans for constructing infrastructure and social facilities, as well as proposed solutions in the field of energy supply and water supply of the city.
As a result of the meeting, the Cabinet and the regional administration received a number of specific instructions.
