The meeting discussed the situation in world politics, economy and international security. In this context, they talked on foreign policy initiatives of our country and its role in the international community's efforts to resolve various conflicts in the world.
In addition, the meeting paid special attention to the steps taken by Kazakhstan to ensure sustainable development in the current economic conditions.
In his speech Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke about the achievements of our country over the years of independence.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that due to instability in world market prices of raw materials, Kazakhstan implements the policy of industrialization, through which in recent years hundreds of new enterprises have been built.
The President stressed that currently the country's second five-year program of industrial-innovative development is carried out and it is aimed at gradual reduction of economic dependence on exports of raw materials.
The President of Kazakhstan noted the focus of our country on development of transport and logistics capabilities and infrastructure construction. These efforts, in turn, allowed to diversify and significantly increase the volume of trade with other countries.
President also emphasized that the "safety bag" in the form of the National Fund allows Kazakhstan to continue its plans, and fulfill the social obligations.
Among the participants were the former presidents of Israel, Poland and Colombia Shimon Peres, Lech Walesa, Cesar Trujillo, former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero, former IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei and others.
