In the course of the briefing meeting with representatives of domestic media the Head of State said that he was taking part in G-20 Summit for the second time the current year at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
- To participate in such a big event, which brings together heads of state, representing 70 percent of the world's population and half the world's economy, is a very great honor for Kazakhstan. It discusses the most serious issues of global economics and politics, common position on major regional and global issues are elaborated, including those relating to safety. Speaking at the first session, I presented Kazakhstan’s position on all these aspects too. Throughout all Summit discussions one feels the breath of the world, is aware of the problems of concern to both developed and developing nations of the world. Kazakhstan should take into account all the issues raised here and deal with them in advance, said the President of Kazakhstan.
Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed confidence that the efforts of Kazakhstan made currently in difficult time in industrialization and investment attraction are timely and justified.
- Now it is necessary to maintain low unemployment, to be concerned about creation of new jobs and to emerge from the fight with the crisis to the economic growth. This is what we will be talking about at the Government’s enlarged session to be held on September 9, the President said.
President of Kazakhstan reminded that alongside with the Summit he had a working visit to China. In that context Nursultan Nazarbayev placed emphasis on the interest and attention of the Chinese side to all the questions formulated by our country on bilateral relations.
- We have come to an understanding of all the aspects of previous agreements, on the construction of modern joint ventures in Kazakhstan in particular. The list includes 51 facilities, of which two have already been built, the construction of four facilities totaling $ 2.5 billion will be completed this year. Just over five years it is scheduled to build for a total value of 26 billion dollars. Apart from that, to support these projects there are joint Kazakh-Chinese funds both between companies and between countries. For example, the Fund for Development of the Silk Road, said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
In the words of the President, one of the main points on the bilateral agenda is transport and communication links between Kazakhstan and China.
- There is annual increase in transit of cargo, going through the territory of Kazakhstan and China. Use of the port of Aktau has intensified, which did not happen earlier. This is due to the construction of Khorgos inland port, the 300 km Khorgos-Almaty railroad and Western Europe - Western China highway. Logistics centers have been put up. All these hubs are points of growth. We have also agreed on cooperation in the energy and technology sectors, said the President of Kazakhstan.
Nursultan Nazarbayev also noted that in connection with the largest Kashagan field’s placing in operation the Kazakh oil delivery capacity will multiply.
- Now we are supplying to China for about 7 million tons of oil, and this figure can be increased to 20 million tons as well as we can boost the supply of gas from Kazakhstan to China. All that takes the commercial exchange between our countries to a new level, said the Head of State.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan expanded on the theme of the Kazakh-Chinese cooperation in the field of agriculture.
- For the first time the agreements have been reached on delivery of wheat to China, other types of cereals, legumes and oilseeds, as well as meat and poultry. Earlier we did not have that. Thus, we are opening the way for our agricultural producers. I think this is a very good piece of news. At the same time, the Chinese side has very strict requirements for quality and phytosanitary products. Our farmers should be prepared for that, said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Head of State drew attention to the content of the agreements reached, noting that it is essential for the governments of the two countries to undertake the relevant work for their actualization.
- In the near future the Chairman of the State Council Li Keqiang is expected to visit Kazakhstan. During the talks with him we are planning to further discuss the issues that our countries should solved by joint efforts, said the President of Kazakhstan.
In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev said that on the sidelines of the Summit a number of fruitful bilateral meetings were held with other heads of state and delegations, during which a substantial exchange of views on various issues of mutual interest took place.
